The Nokia Lumia 620 is one of the eagerly anticipated entry range Windows Phone 8 devices. According to Nokia, the new Windows Phone 8 Lumia Series(Lumia 920, Lumia 820 and Lumia 620) will arrive in early January in India. The Nokia Lumia 620 has relatively lesser hardware specifications than its elder brothers – Lumia 820 and Lumia 920. Certainly, it is way behind the Android heavy weights like Samsung Galaxy S3 and LG Optimus G in terms of processing power and pretty much everything.
The Lumia 620 comes with a 1GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 Plus chipset and has 512MB RAM. It runs on Windows Phone 8 OS. The folks at GSMArena have run a few benchmark tests on the browser of Lumia 620 and it turns out that Lumia 620 beat Galaxy S3 in both of these tests. It outdid LG Optimus G in one of those tests. The LG Optimus G is one of the most powerful Android devices out there. The browser benchmark is just an indication, but the real life scenario will be different. But the fact that a device for Rs13,000 from Nokia is able to beat a device for Rs33,000 in browser test is something really amazing.
The HTC Windows Phone 8S was also among the mix. The HTC Windows Phone 8S and Lumia 620 have almost the same specifications and the numbers from HTC 8S weren’t as impressive as the Lumia 620. The impressive numbers of Lumia 620 are a result of Nokia’s effort in empowering a entry range device. The HTC 8S came last in one of those tests and finished one behind the last. From the looks of it, Lumia 620 could be a huge hit if the pricing is right.
