Nokia has made its all important announcement at the Nokia Communications 2011 event held at Singapore. The important announcement is about the launch of the MeeGo running Nokia N9. This is a phone that has had quite a bit popularity now and that is because of its OS which is based on Linux and it is being developed by Intel and Nokia together.
Nokia N9 – What it packs!
The new things that we see in the MeeGo OS are new interfaces which come with a lot of swipe based gestures. Some of the features of the new interface are its three homescreens in which the first one has all the installed applications. The next screen contains the notifications and social network messages. The last screen contains all the applications that are open. It supports pinch and zoom to get a more clear picture of the number of running applications. Swipe based interface is the key and that makes it very easy to select the applications. Despite the new browser in the Nokia N9, there is no Flash support. The phone packs a bunch of games including Angry Birds Fire, Real Golf 2011 and Galaxy on Fire 2. The Nokia N9 will be the first phone to have the Dolby Digital Plus built in support for Dolby Headphone.

The phone will also be the first to have a very different outward screen and also the front of the screen will have only the capacitive touchscreen. The 3.9″inch AMOLED display 854 x 480 and it will be protected with Corning Gorilla Glass. Thanks to the 8MP camera at the back with auto-focus and LED flash, one can record HD videos along with Stereo sound. The inside of the phone is powered by a 1GHz A8 CPU and is supported by a PowerVR GPU with a huge 1GB RAM. The phone has all around connectivity with Wi-Fi, HSDPA, Bluetooth and GPS. Like the iPhone 4, Nokia N9 will be needing the micro SIM. Similarly it will be available in two versions of 16GB and 64GB with a color range of black, pink and blue.
There has been no announcement about the release and price of Nokia N9, but with its superb features, one would want it very soon.
