Just fresh from launching ICS updates for their yesteryear Xperia line up, Sony have come up with an announcement of two new phones to their Xperia line up. The latest addition to the Xperia family will be the water and dust proof Xperia Go and Xperia Acro S. The Xperia Go is likely to be the affordable one with a dual core processor and 3.5inch display while the Xperia Acro S seems to be matching the flagship model Xperia S.
Sony Xperia Go
Among the two phones launched today, the Xperia Go is the affordable one with a dual core processor, 3.5inch display, 5MP camera and is likely to be launched with Gingerbread while Sony is already working on an ICS Update for the same. The 3.5inch LED lit LCD is powered by the Sony Mobile BRAVIA Reality display, but the resolution is 320 x 480 making it a little cheap. Like all the affordable Xperia mid range phones, the Xperia Go comes with 512MB RAM. It has 8GB internal storage of which 4GB is user accessible and there is support for microSD cards. The connectivity seems quite good with WiFi, 3G, Bluetooth, GPS with A-GPS and microUSB. There is USB On The Go support. The 5MP camera does 720p video recording at 30fps and there is image stabilization. There is Adobe Flash support in the browser. Xperia Go is dust and water resistant as the touchscreen can handle wet touches.
Sony Xperia Acro S
The Sony Xperia Acro S is a dual core processor phone with a 12MP camera, HD display and is expected to come with Android 4.0 ICS out of the box. The Xperia Acro S is powered by a Scorpion 1.5GHz dual core processor and there is Adreno 220 GPU on board for all the graphics needs. The procesor is supported by 1GB of RAM. The 12MP camera on the back sure snaps some pretty photos and it is capable of 1080p video recording at 30fps. There is a front facing 1.3MP camera that can record 720p HD videos. The 4.3inch LED lit LCD screen has a HD resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and that gives the display a higher pixel density(342ppi) than the RETINA display of iPhone. The Sony Mobile BRAVIA Reality display is protected by a water and dust resistant glass that can even recognize touch from wet fingers. There is 16GB on board storage and if that is not enough, there is support for micro SD cards up to 32GB. The connectivity is sound with 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC, HDMI Port, micro USB and GPS with A-GPS. USB On The Go is supported.
The pricing is yet to be announced, but looking by the specifications, the Xperia Go is expected to be around Rs16,000 and the Xperia Acro S is expected to be around Rs30,000. These phones will be released in Q3 this year.
